About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced DevOps Engineer Lead (10+ years overall, 5+ years in DevOps/SRE) to design and optimize cloud foundations, CI/CD pipelines, and automation workflows across AWS and/or Azure. This fully remote role (2 PM–11 PM IST) involves building secure, scalable infrastructure using Terraform, Kubernetes, and scripting (Bash/PowerShell), implementing shift-left DevSecOps practices, managing IAM and cost guardrails, and establishing strong monitoring and observability systems. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in cloud architectures, CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps), containerization, networking, and cloud security, along with excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and stakeholder communication skills. A strong learning mindset, ownership, and ability to support engineering teams with deployments, configuration, and problem resolution are essential.

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer Lead to design, implement, and optimize cloud foundations and delivery pipelines across AWS and/or Azure. In this role, you will focus on automation, reliability, security, and scalability while partnering directly with application teams to support enterprise-grade deployments. You will design cloud infrastructure, build CI/CD workflows, embed shift-left/DevSecOps practices, and ensure secure, cost-efficient cloud operations.
This role reports to the Director of SRE and involves collaboration with the VP of Engineering, engineering directors, and cross-functional technical teams. The position is fully remote with required overlap with U.S. Mountain Standard Time (Phoenix, AZ).
Key Responsibilities
Design and enhance cloud foundations for reliability, security, and scalability on AWS and/or Azure.
Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines with standardized builds, tests, quality gates, and safe deployment strategies.
Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and develop reusable provisioning modules.
Automate operational and developer workflows using Bash, PowerShell, and command-line tooling.
Package and run containerized workloads on Kubernetes; guide teams on Helm, manifests, and promotion workflows.
Embed shift-left and DevSecOps practices including static analysis, dependency checks, and policy validations.
Enforce IAM least privilege and cost guardrails within CI/CD workflows with actionable feedback loops.
Establish monitoring, logging, metrics, and alerting aligned to service and system health.
Support cloud security posture through vulnerability scanning and native security tools (AWS Security Hub, Microsoft Defender for Cloud).
Provide hands-on support for deployments, troubleshooting, configuration, and release readiness.
Maintain documentation, runbooks, standards, and operational best practices.
Required Technical Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
10+ years overall experience, including 5+ years in DevOps/SRE/Platform Engineering.
Strong hands-on experience with AWS and/or Azure (compute, networking, identity, storage, containers).
Expert-level scripting with Bash and PowerShell; good working knowledge of AWS CLI.
Basic programming proficiency in Python or Java for tooling and automation.
Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Harness, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.
Solid understanding of Git branching strategies, pull request workflows, and source control best practices.
Strong experience in Terraform for building modules and cloud infrastructure.
Experience integrating code quality, coverage, and automated testing into pipelines.
Proven background implementing DevSecOps, IAM least privilege, cost controls, and automated validations.
Deep understanding of containers and Kubernetes (EKS or AKS preferred), Helm, registries, ingress, autoscaling, and troubleshooting.
Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Dynatrace, Datadog, AppDynamics, etc.).
Familiarity with agile methodologies—Jira, Scrum, and Kanban workflows.
Strong ownership mindset, troubleshooting ability, and capability to handle multiple priorities.
Other Skills & Expectations
High attention to detail and strong execution discipline.
Ability to work efficiently within time constraints and delivery timelines.
Clear communication of technical rationale to stakeholders.
Ability to create developer-ready design/documentation standards.
Self-managed, responsive, and reliable in a remote contract environment.
Ability to adapt to established engineering systems and practices.
